What is a Traffic Marshall?
Traffic Marshall and banksman are responsible for ensuring the safe movement of large vehicles at construction sites, major traffic hubs, large vehicle fleets and loading docks.
This applies to bulldozers, cranes, and other heavy equipment. Custodians are responsible for ensuring the safe movement of large vehicles, especially at the site.
Traffic guides provide specific instructions to drivers and operators via radio and bunker signals to help reduce the risk of accidents and prevent dangerous situations.

The primary role of the traffic officer is to ensure the safety of vehicles and pedestrians on the client’s premises and the general public. The Traffic Officer directs traffic using appropriate hand signals and equipment, coordinates movements, and communicates with staff via radio. The Traffic Marshals will assist in enforcing appropriate health and safety standards on site. Assist and guide delivery drivers to rotate and unload in the safest manner possible.
These is a formal role and responsibility of the Traffic Safety Officer:
- Monitor security, maintain visitor logs, record deliveries.
- Facilitate vehicle access from the site entrance.
- Maintain pedestrian and traffic routes.
